Highlights:

Quito (UNESCO): Church of the Jesuits, iconic baroque church, I was there during Eastern processions, Plaza San Francisco with church of same name, Basilica of the National Vow (great view from the tower), La Merced church, Weilbauer Archaeological museum, Museum of the City, Museo de Arte Precolombino, Mitad del Mundo (Stone monument marking the equator), National Museum with mummies and gold treasure. Cuenca: Historic Center with the 2 Cathedrals (UNESCO). Alausi (Devil's Nose Train). Riobamba: Facade of Sta. Barbara Cathedral, Otavalo: One of the largest indigenous markets in Latin America. Excursion to Lagoon Cuicocha. Guayaquil Malecon 2000 boulevard along the Guyas river, Museo del Bombero, Museo Antropologico, Cable Car Aerovia, Santa Ana Hill and Las Peñas lighthouse (460 stairs to climb the Hill, but there is a jewel of a bar nearby "La Taberna Escalon 37"), Museo Presley Norton. Banos Cascada El Pailon waterfalls, great place, recommended! Banos is a wonderful base for nature trips, but you won't be alone.
