Highlights:

Muscat: Mutrah is the most authentic part of the capital, with the great Souq, the Fish market and the Corniche. The most photographed building must be the Sultan's Palace (closed to the public), next is the National and Omani-French museums, also worth is a visit to the Sultan's Armed Forces museum. Grand Mosque and Royal Opera House, tours on request. Al Bustan Palace Hotel. Stunning Nizwa and Bahla Forts, both renovated. Saiq Plateau on Jebel Akhdar. View from Jebel Shams to "Arabia's Grand Canyon" called Wadi Ghul. Bat Archeological site UNESCO, the so called beehive tombs from the Bronze Age, hard to find, better with your own car. Khasab on the Musandam peninsula has its own Fort, join a dhow trip along the rugged coast. Salalah Museum of the Franchise Land, Khor Rouri (Sumhuram UNESCO).
