Highlights:

Dar Es Salaam National Museum with some interesting artefacts und human bones dating 1.5 million years back from North Tanzania which helps to prove that Africa was the craddle of humankind, but also the black Rolls Royce Limousine of Tanzania's first president, Nyerere, Cathedral, Tingatinga market with many local artists, Waterfront for the sunset and fine dining, Coco beach. Arusha it is here to organize your Safari experience and search for some last minute deals, the town has a Colonial ambiance with its Clocktower, visited Marangu's hotel Kibo where mountain climbers stayed, already Hans Meyer who climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro (5895m, the highest mountain in Africa) as the first homo sapiens anno 1889. There are plenty of options for those eager to get to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro UNESCO. Serengeti National Park (60,000 km2), home to the largest herds of grazing animals in the world.Plus there is the spectacular biannual migration over the Mara river around October towards Kenya's Masai Mara, and in April back westwards to the plains of the Serengeti. Lake Manyara's National Park with a size of 322 km2. Ngorongoro Crater UNESCO the world's largest unbroken and unflooded volcanic caldera, a natural habitat for thousands of wild animals, a natural spectacle as you will not easily witness it a second time on the planet. Zanzibar Stonetown UNESCO with its winding alleyways and heavy wooden carved doors, surrounded by the ocean, and gorgeous sunsets, best experienced with a sundowner cocktail at Africa House Hotel. Visit the House of the Wonders, the Palace Museum, the Livingston House (David really stayed here 1866 for a couple of months), the Old Omani Fort and St. Joseph's Cathedral. For shopping have a look at Memories of Zanzibar, they have a wide selection of jewelry and accessories. For best beaches I would recommend Nungwi on the northwestern tip of the island, since the beaches on the east coast are quite flat during low tide, but Pongwe was our favourite beach in the East. Jozani Red Colobus Monkey Park. Kilwa Kisiwani UNESCO we reached it by public bus from Temeke station in Dar Es Salaam, overnight stay in Kilwa Masoko. There is an entrance fee in the District Commissioner's Office, then we chartered a local Dhow, sailing of course. The sight is impressive, with the remains of the Omani Makutani Palace, very beautiful mosques and the large Husuni Kubwa Palace that we reach after a 2 kilometers walk through the jungle. Selous Game Reserve UNESCO, Africa's largest wildlife reserve with large herds of elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, hippos and even the extremely rare black rhinos! Kondoa Rock Paintings UNESCO, can be reached by public transport from either Arusha or Dodoma.
