Highlights:

Kiev UNESCO Saint Sophia Cathedral (built 1037) with 13 gilded domes has an amazing collection of original mosaics and icons of the 11th century, photos not allowed. Pechersk Lavra monastery (16th century) one of the most important sites of the Eastern Orthodox Christianity, spread over 28 hectares with gems like the Trinity gate, Dormition cathedral, the Great Lavra Belfry (can be climbed for great views over Kiev), possible also to visit the mummified monks in unique underground catacombs and coffins, just lit by my tiny candle, an eerie experience. St. Michael's Golden Domed Monastery. Reconstructed Golden Gate of the medieval ages. St. Andrew Green-onion-domed Orthodox Church. Museum of Toilets. Khanenko Museum. Independance Square with Maidan memorial, it is here where People's protests took place, Khreschatyk Street is the main shopping area with historic buildings lining up. Kviev Funicular to the banks of the Dnieper river. Gigantic Motherland Monument commemorating the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in the 2nd World War and there is also an excellent museum to that subject. Podil the river front quarter, best reached via Andriyivskyy Descent, a very picturesque street with great views and the One Street Museum near the bottom. Besarabsky indoor food market, in a historic building. Chernobyl Museum. Odesa the grandiose Potemkin stairs, leading to the port and the Zolote Dytia sculpture. Take an excursion boat on the Black Sea for an hour. Legendary Londonskaya Hotel, but no student discount! Odesa Opera&Ballet, depuis 1810, with great performances, and even greater ticket prices. Lanzheron beach in summer. Tioschin bridge. Pushkin museum. Fine Arts Museum. Liv UNESCO with its wealth of medieval buildings, churches, universities, museums and the National Opera Theare with its great facade, a very charming city, often called the "Paris of Ukraine" because of its European vibe. Potelych UNESCO Holy Spirit church, part of the Wooden Tserkvas of the Carpathian region, also the Holy Trinity Church in Zhovkva UNESCO, another wooden church closer to Lviv. Chernivtsi Residence of Bukovinian&Dalmatian Metropolitans UNESCO, formerly the seat of the archbishop, but now it is housing the National University. The city is dubbed as "Little Vienna" because of its similar architecture and the strong coffee culture. Kamianets-Podilskyi with a great castle and other fortifications overlooking the Smotrych river and its canyon. Chernobyl where 1989 a Nuclear explosion took place in the local Power Plan, can be visited with authorized tour agencies from Kiev. Klevan has a long arched tunnel of greenery with a private train track running through, a unique sight that is called the "Tunnel of Love". Kharkiv Derzhprom Industrial Building.
